About this tool

This image compressor reduces file size by re-encoding your photo as a JPEG at a quality level you control, so you can shrink a file to a fraction of its original size while keeping it visually close to the original. If you know exactly how small the file needs to be — say, under 100KB for a web form or a CMS upload limit — enter a target size in KB and the tool will automatically search for the quality level that gets you there.
How to use it
- Choose an image from your device.
- Drag the quality slider, or enter a target file size in KB if you have a specific limit to hit.
- Click Compress and check the before/after size shown in the stats.
- Click Download to save the compressed JPEG.
Tips
- Photos with lots of fine detail (foliage, fabric, noise) compress less than smooth images like screenshots or graphics.
- If you need a specific file size for an upload form, use the target KB field instead of guessing a quality percentage.
- Compression always outputs JPEG, since PNG doesn't support lossy quality reduction the same way — use the resizer first if you need a smaller PNG.
